World Ozone Day Celebration

World Ozone Day was celebrated at Government College, Ropar on September 16, 2023, under the theme "Montreal Protocol: Fixing the Ozone Layer and Reducing Climate Change," in accordance with instructions received from the Punjab Pollution Control Board and the Directorate of Higher Education Department, SAS Nagar (College Education Branch). The event saw active participation from a total of 50 students who engaged in a Poster Making competition while also promoting awareness among their peers about the critical role of the ozone layer in protecting the environment and the consequences of its depletion.

Assistant Professor Shikha Chaudhary, from the Department of Botany, delivered a scientific presentation to sensitize the students on effective ways to protect the ozone layer. Additionally, Assistant Professor Pooja Verma, also from the Department of Botany, provided valuable assistance to the students during the poster-making process. The evaluation of the posters was expertly conducted by Assistant Professors Surinder Singh (Department of Zoology), Gurpreet Kaur, and Rajbir Kaur (Department of Chemistry).

Towards the conclusion of the event, Principal Jatinder Singh expressed his appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of all the students and distributed prizes to commend their efforts in raising awareness about the crucial issue of ozone layer protection and climate change mitigation. This celebration not only educated the college community but also emphasized the importance of collective action in safeguarding our environment.
