Bonsai Making Workshop and Hands-On Training event

On September 30, 2023, under the instruction of Department of Higher Education to the Department of Botany and Zoology at Government College Ropar organized a Bonsai Making Workshop and Hands-On Training event for the students of B.Sc. and NSS. The workshop aimed to provide practical experience in the art of bonsai cultivation and maintenance. Principal Jatinder Singh Gill provided valuable guidance for the event.

The event was organized by the Department of Botany and Zoology, led by Assistant Professor Shikha Chaudhary, Assistant Professor Surinder Singh, and Assistant Professor Pooja Verma, who supervised the workshop meticulously.

The attendees included enthusiastic students pursuing B.Sc. and members of the National Service Scheme (NSS), who showed great interest in learning the intricate art of bonsai cultivation.

Dr. Jujhar Singh, a renowned expert from Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, served as the guest speaker and shared his vast knowledge and experience in bonsai making with the attendees. His insights were invaluable in shaping the success of the workshop.

The workshop commenced with a theoretical session with the help of a PPT, where Dr. Jujhar Singh provided a comprehensive overview of the history, techniques, and principles of bonsai cultivation.

Attendees were given a hands-on demonstration by Dr. Jujhar Singh, who showcased the process of selecting, pruning, wiring, and potting a bonsai tree.

Dr. Jujhar Singh, along with the organizing faculty, encouraged active participation and addressed questions, ensuring a deep understanding of bonsai cultivation.

The event was graced by the presence of several staff members, including Dr. Dalvinder Singh, Dr. Sukhjinder Kaur, Assistant Professor Arvinder Kaur, Assistant Professor Karuna Chaudhary, Assistant Professor Rajbir Kaur, Assistant Professor Gurpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor Dipender Kumar, Assistant Professor Jagjeet Singh, Assistant Professor Narinder Kaur, Assistant Professor Manpreet Singh, Dr. Jatinder Kumar. Their support and involvement greatly contributed to the event's success.
